Stefan Meyer is a player who isn’t afraid to use his size to create space on the ice and is a great physical winger.  He isn’t going to let anyone push him or his teammates around and he isn’t going to back down from a challenge.

From 2000-2005, Meyer played for the Medicine Hat Tigers in the Western Hockey League (WHL) where he played 282 games and racked up 123 goals and 123 assists for a total of 246 points in his junior career.

Stefan was drafted in the 2nd round (55th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers.

Meyer was a hit his rookie year in Rochester.  He scored 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points in 68 games. Because of his great play, he was named the Amerks Rookie of the Year.  He scored his first professional goal in his first pro game with the Amerks on October 29, 2005.

Last season (2006/07) cut back on the penalty minutes he was taking (from 139 in the previous season to 90).  He also scored a career high 13 professional goals and got 9 assists in 68 games.

This season Stefan is on the right track to have his best season yet.  In 25 games played so far this season, he has 8 goals and 11 assists for 19 points.  He has been getting more ice time with his “veteran” status on the team and has been proving an integral part of this team.

Meyer has also played in three NHL games with the Florida Panthers so far this season.  Getting a taste for the big show must only be greatening his need to go back as he has been proving himself more everyday on the ice for the Rochester Americans and is quickly becoming a favorite player of the fans.
