David Shantz Recalled to Panthers

David Shantz was recalled from the Florida Everblades on Thursday to the Florida Panthers.  The Florida Everblades are set to open their regular season on Friday night.  It’s assumed that the Panthers have made this move to loan him out to another ECHL team.

Houston Aeros Assistant General Manager Troy G. Ward announced today that goaltender Anton Khudobin has been loaned to ECHL Florida Everblades, which would give the Blades a second goaltender.

David Shantz started the 07/08 season with the Rochester Americans before being reassigned to the Everblades.  He played in 14 games with the Amerks and had a record of 1-10-1.  His GAA was 4.07 and save pct was 0.863.  While his stats weren’t the best, he was also the product of a bad team in front of him.

When he was reassigned to the Everblades he played in 20 games, had a record of 11-5-3 with a 2.56 GAA and 0.916 save pct.

Rumors have been swirling that the Amerks are interested in LW Riley Emersson who currently plays for the Everblades but is property of the Minnesota Wild, this could be part of something in the works.  Emersson is 6’8″ and 246lbs and a known tough guy, exactly what the Amerks need.
