Tyler Plante is possibly done for the season with a shoulder injury. With only six games left in the season chances are David Shantz will be riding out the rest of the season in an Amerks uniform. His shoulder had been bothering him for a few weeks, sounds as if it’s caught up to him. Benoit Groulx shared this news on the “Power Play” radio show on Monday evening that they’ll be evaluating the situations with Brodeur and Plante with the medical staff and Florida Panthers.
Shantz started this past Saturday in Binghamton arriving about 30 minutes before face off.
Apparently Matt Duffy is expecting to join the Florida Everblades for their playoff run. Yesterday we posted about the chances of Micflikier joining the Blades, tonight Duffy mentioned on the same radio show that it’s being discussed about him being sent down as well.
Matt Duffy has played in the past three games for the Amerks and has scored a goal and assisted on three others. Four points in three games, not too bad. The pose and confidence he has shown in only three games makes the future look bright for our defense next season.
It’s amazing what you can learn listening to the show, wish I would’ve posted a recap after every show this season. I listen every week while playing garage hockey with our son, great job Craig and Don!
The Amerks took a team photo way back on February 19th prior to the morning skate with the players and they’ll finally be available at the last home game on April 10th against the Syracuse Crunch. The picture was also available at the CF Dinner for a donation, but will be handed out for free at the game. The team is also expected to have an autograph session after the game.
The final photo does not have Repik and Ellerby looking at each other. A few pics from the photo session down below.
The team will be in the gym tomorrow for off ice workouts and back on the ice Wednesday. I’ll do my best to get to practice and try and get some follow up news.
About the “Power Play” Radio Show – (download 3/30/09 show) (archive of the season)
The show runs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. each Monday night on WYSL 1040-AM and wysl1040.com. It’s a great chance to tune in and actually hear great conversation about the Amerks and Knighthawks with players, something none of the other radio talk show hosts do.
This week they talked with Shawn Matthias, Benoit Groulx, Matt Duffy, Keaton Ellerby and John Grant from the Rochester Knighthawks.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by the site on Monday, it was the busiest day ever for the site! It’s unfortunate the season is winding down, but we’ll be around all summer.
