The Amerks are back on the ice tonight to faceoff against the Binghamton Senators, game time is at 7:05pm at Blue Cross Arena. It’s the first of ten meetings between the two teams this season. It’s also only one of two Wednesday night home games this season for the Amerks.
The game could see the return of goaltender Mike Brodeur who saved the Amerks 2008/2009 season from being a complete disaster. Brodeur was offered the chance to return but he chose to take an offer with the Ottawa Senators instead. No idea if he’ll be starting or riding the bench, his season along with the Senators has been off to a rough start.
Binghamton is off to a 2-2-2 start and currently on a four game losing streak. Their skid started on October 10 when the Hershey Bears beat them 8-1. The Senators have given up a goal in the first minute of two of their last four games.
Rochester is currently riding a three game winning streak, the first such streak since February 2008. A fast start and the Amerks special teams will again be a key element of the game.
The Amerks won three out of eight games against the Senators last season, all three wins coming at home. The Amerks are 22-27-5 all-time against the Ottawa Senators’ affiliate.
Victor Oreskovich will be playing for the first time this season. He skates hard and skates fast, looking forward to seeing what he’s capable of.
Jimmy Bonneau could be in the lineup. If he is we can probably expect a fight between him and Tim Spencer for the Senators and or Jeremy Yablonski. Yablonski missed Saturdays game for Binghamton with a “muscle pull” but is expected back in the lineup.
Mike Duco has a banged up shoulder and may not play. Michal Repik was sick as of Tuesday morning and could be a game time decision.
